BUCKTOWN

Bucktown is one of Chicago's most popular artsy neighborhoods, with trendy restaurants, boutique shops, and historic architecture. The neighborhood is electric both day and night, with no shortage of music venues, craft coffee shops, and some of the city's highest-rated restaurants. Bucktown also strikes a balance between peaceful residential neighborhoods and nearby nightlife and cultural attractions. Bucktown is still one of Chicago's most inventive and exciting neighborhoods, even after several decades.

TRANSPORTATION

Bucktown is a fairly large neighborhood, so individual pockets are easily walkable, but if you want to explore the entire area, you'll need to rent a car or take the bus. The eastern border, defined by the north branch of the Chicago River, is particularly dispersed and is best traversed by a vehicle of some kind. Diversey Avenue, Fullerton Avenue, Armitage Avenue, and North Avenue have east/west bus routes, while Damen Avenue has a north/south route and Milwaukee Avenue has a northwest/southeast line. The Blue Line also runs parallel to Milwaukee Avenue, taking you southeast to the Loop or northwest to Logan Square's newest restaurant. Meanwhile, the Metra runs parallel to the expressway, transporting you south to the Ogilvie Transportation Center or north to the northern suburbs. The Bloomingdale Trail, a former elevated railroad that has been rehabilitated into a greenway that connects parks in Logan Square and Bucktown, offers a distinct space for walking, running, and biking.
